Even though 70% of the Earth's surface is covered by water, less than 1% is suitable for drinking. Even in Chicago where we have one of the largest fresh water supplies in the world, it is critical that we get smarter about how we use our supply of potable water. Power Plumbing and Sewer is committed to conserving our water supply and promoting water efficiency. We encourage the installation of flow-optimized shower heads, low-flow aerators for faucets, high-efficiency toilets and tankless water heaters. We keep a limited inventory of eco-friendly products from Kohler, Grohe and Moen.
Flow-Optimized Shower Heads
Designed for optimal performance at 1.75 gallons per minute to save 30% on water usage compared to those with a flow rate of 2.5 gpm.
Faucets with Low-Flow Aerators
Faucets with low-flow aerators save up to 30% water per fixture by reducing the rate of flow from your faucets without reducing their efficiency.
High Efficiency and Dual Flush Toilets
Dual flush gives users a choice between 0.8 gallons for liquid and light waste and 1.6 gallons for solid waste. Save up to 22,000 gallons of water per fixture per year compared to a standard 3.5 gallon per flush toilet.
Tankless Water Heaters
You never have to take another cold shower or bath after you install a tankless water heater. It can provide an endless supply of hot water for your shower or bath and is designed for high efficiency by only heating the hot water that is needed. This performance cuts water heating costs up to 50%.
